A love and compassion for animals, by and large, is an overriding factor for those who choose a career in veterinary medicine. Our “feel good” rewards come from helping our patients - the animals - overcome or live comfortably with illness, relieving their suffering when the battle is lost, and promoting or enhancing the human-animal bond. Veterinarians and the those working in supportive roles (veterinary technicians and client care representatives) are typically caring and compassionate individuals. But that doesn’t always come through to our clients, patients, or to each other. We have good days and bad days, easy days and challenging days. We continually find ourselves multi-tasking in an effort to meet the demands of our busy work day. Not uncommonly these constant demands take a toll on our personal well-being. Additionally, they can have an adverse effect on our actual caregiving.
This session brings focus to both client-centric and patient-centric caregiving, and 12 essentials for demonstrating exemplary care in the veterinary practice setting.
