Treats For Cats?

Behavior

In a past webinar on Fear of the Veterinary Clinic, Dr. E'Lise Christensen mentioned the use of food or treats during a visit to help serve as a distraction and alter the emotional response of a fearful pet. An audience member asked what treats she recommends for cats.

Dr. E'Lise Christensen replied:

Great question! :)
Tons! Anchovy paste, Hills a/d, Laxatone, whipped cream (we use "all natural" kind in the can), tuna, bonito flakes, kitten food, pill pockets, freeze dried shrimp, all types of cheese, cream, hot dog bits, bacon bits, cat nip (only if you already know patient is calmed by it), other critical care diets, freeze dried salmon or chicken, deli meats... I could go on. We have a Kitten Caboodle. You can find pictures of it on our Facebook page (Veterinary Behavior Consultations of Colorado).
